Drayage trucks, which bring cargo from ports to warehouses nearby, must make the move to electric by 2035 in the U.S. state. Transitioning fleets to electricAcross the Atlantic, Dutch brewer Heineken recently partnered with Swedish electric truck start-up Einride to make the transition to electric. Getting more electric trucks to carry cargo on the road, especially for long-distance journeys, will need to be spearheaded by cargo owners that want their goods moved sustainably. Many of the new trucks will be deployed in markets where DFDS has not yet moved to electric trucks, including in the U.K. In California, Lime's use of electric trucks has been driven by legislation that states all drayage trucks must be zero-emissions by 2035.

Einride plans to open many EV charging stations for freight trucking on the West and East coasts, though California is the only state in which there are any EV freight charging stations of scale today. Voltera, which develops, owns and operates EV infrastructure, said the site was permitted, built, electrified and operational in under 18 months. "In the world of charging infrastructure, that's pretty remarkable," its CEO Matt Horton said in a statement. One of the first EV charging stations of scale for freight trucks is opening near the major ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, California, as the trucking market takes some limited, but significant steps to build the infrastructure required for a long-term transition to EV trucking and net-zero shipping. Additional EV charging projects at ports in New York and New Jersey, as well as the Pacific Northwest, are planned.

Jack Dorsey once led a Twitter company retreat to boost employee morale and set a vision for the company. Had Dorsey opened his eyes, he would have seen nearly all of Twitter's 3,500 employees facing him in their own noiseless trance. From the convention center floor where they all sat looking up at the stage, Dorsey was just a silhouette, like a statue of a skinny Buddha. It was July 31, 2018, the first day of #OneTeam, Twitter's first-ever company-wide retreat. "BATTLE FOR THE BIRD: Jack Dorsey, Elon Musk, and the $44 Billion Fight for Twitter's Soul" by Kurt Wagner.

AdvertisementMany people think self-driving cars should be better than human drivers, an industry executive said. "There's a difference between an accident caused by a human driver, and an accident caused by an autonomous system," said Majors. Advertisement"I think that the expectation is that they have to be a lot better than a human driver, because when there is an accident and the computer's involved, there's less empathy or understanding." Majors said that Motional, a Hyundai-Aptiv joint venture developing autonomous technology, had operated more than 2 million miles autonomously with no at-fault crashes. Cruise, which was trialing "robotaxi" services that ferried passengers around San Francisco without a human driver, was forced to recall its entire fleet late last year.

The Middle East, a region long known for its oil and gas riches, is investing in a new, more sustainable future potentially dominated by electric vehicles. The electric vehicle sector is booming in Israel, with electric vehicle deliveries in the first half of this year over 210% higher than the same period last year. "There's a growing recognition that countries need to do something on climate," said Tammy Klein, chairperson of the Electric Vehicle Council. "I think Middle Eastern countries are no different."

COPENHAGEN, June 14 (Reuters) - Swedish electric self-driving truck company Einride expects to reduce CO2 emissions in Norway by 2,100 tonnes over the coming three years as it partners up with Scandinavia's leading postal service, PostNord, the company said on Wednesday. Using Einride's electric trucks, PostNord will reduce its fossil-fuel-driven deliveries in Norway by more than 1,500 km (932 miles) per day. Many goods can be transported with zero-emission vehicles, resulting in a significant environmental benefit, according to assistant director of sustainability at PostNord Norway, May-Kristin Willoch. Swedish start-up Einride driverless electric truck is seen in Jonkoping, Sweden May 15, 2019. Self-driving technology for freight trucks has attracted investor attention in recent years as it is deemed cheaper and easier to roll out than self-driving cars.

Swedish EV trucking startup Einride has been able to so far go toe-to-toe with Tesla and its Semi in attracting top corporate clients. "In the $4 trillion freight mobility space, between 40%-50% should be electric driven by the business case today," Falck said on CNBC's "Worldwide Exchange" in an interview on Thursday after his company ranked No. "In the near-term, of course, the business case for diesel becomes slightly better," Falck said in the April interview. In freight, unlike the consumer market, "it's not about range, it's about how to secure the business case," he said. Swedish electric vehicle maker Einride will supply two of its heavy-duty trucks to PepsiCo as part of an expansion into the U.K. Einride

Home appliances company GE Appliances began testing an Einride vehicle without a safety driver on board on U.S. public roads in October 2022. Einride said its U.K. vehicles will be driven by human operators. Operating electric trucks to ship goods across countries at scale is a tough thing to accomplish. "So we're looking at a transport system, where the efficiency is 6%," Falk said. "So that means that you are at 94% waste of the potential of the transport system itself.
Twitter said only Twitter Blue subscribers can use text messages to secure accounts from March 20. Text message two-factor authentication was being "abused" by "bad actors," the company said. A Twitter Blue subscription costs $11 a month on Android or iOS. It believed that text-based two-factor authentication was being "abused" by "bad actors," according to a blog post published Wednesday and shared in Twitter's latest announcement. Shortly after Elon Musk's takeover last October, it introduced Twitter Blue, which allows users to pay for the blue checkmarks previously reserved to high-profile figures.
